Fan art tips

I love drawing fanart. I have several Akatsuki fanart and a few Code Geass. I have a Deviant Art page with a few of my artwork there.
This is what I believe is the best way to do fan art.
Do:
Keep to your own artistic style( that will set you work apart from others)
Get creative(put the characters in a funny setting, draw them the way you feel is correct for the character)
Try to keep the character in his/her own personality. (if your doing a funny interpertaion of the character,make it believeable)
Have fun

Don't:
Trace a mangaka's or animator's work( it isn't very origanal and we know that they have talent, people want to see how you draw the characters)
Don't draw on lined paper! that takes way from your artwork (I tend to focus on the lines and less on the fanart when it's on lined paper

Great tips for showing off in how you do in increasing your overall quality when doing fanart. So is there a link towards your Deviantart page?
